Hanging power cable kills auto driver
A 37-year-old autorickshaw driver was electrocuted after he came in contact with a submerged live wire at Ice House on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Rafiq Hussain and is survived by two school-going children and his wife. The incident was reported just outside a Corporation school.
On Saturday evening, many streets were flooded with knee deep water after the rain. Hussain, was on his way back home and when he was crossing Gazette Begum Street, water from the street entered into his vehicle. It looks like a live wire that was hanging from a nearby transformer came in contact with his vehicle and he was thrown off the vehicle and died of electrocution.Â
Based on an alert, police team from Ice House police station arrived at the spot, recovered Hussain’s body and sent it to the Royapettah Government Hospital for autopsy. The local residents claimed that it was the third such incident reported in the same locality in the recent past.Â
