Man, son arrested for murder
A 23-year-old youth, who cleared the first round of police constable recruitment, and his father were arrested for killing a 40-year-old man near Uthiramerur in Kancheepuram on Monday night. The deceased slapped the father for allegedly causing nuisance to the public in an inebriated state recently, which led to the murder.

The deceased, identified as Murughanandam (40), a resident of Peru Nagar was a farmer. Police arrested Natrajan (56), also a farmer, from Peru Nagar and his son Kannan (23). Kannan was recently selected in the first round of police constable recruitment process. On Monday night, Natrajan created a ruckus in Peru Nagar under the influence of alcohol. When Murughanandam tried to control him, Natrajan abused him.Â
In a fit of rage, Murughanandam slapped Natrajan before leaving scene. Later, Natrajan along with his son Kannan, went to Murughanandam’s house and attacked him with clubs. Murughanandam, who suffered severe injuries, was rushed to RGGGH. However, he died without responding to treatment early on Tuesday morning.Â
