The victim identified as Rajeev Yadav (40), was working as a tea master at a hotel on Habibullah Road at T Nagar and stayed at the house of Nijamuddin who lives on the same road, said police.

Meanwhile, his friends Amarnath, Vicky, Madan Kumar and Rahul Kumar from Bihar, who came to the city in search of jobs, recently came to know about Rajeev’s room and approached him. But Rajeev reportedly refused to share the room with them.

The ‘friends’ returned to Rajeev’s place on Saturday evening with the same request, and as he was firm on his decision, they attacked him and allegedly tried to strangulate him with a belt. “They also stabbed on his face and fled the spot after killing him,” police said.

On information, Pondy Bazaar police rushed to the spot and sent the body to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for post-mortem examamination. The police registered a case and launched a hunt to nab Amarnath, Vicky, Madan Kumar and Rahul Kumar.
