Expelled AMMK man sets car on fire outside TTV Dhinakaran’s house

According to police, K Parimalam (45), former town secretary in AMMK, was expelled from the party for violating party’s code of conduct a few days ago. Sources also said that he has spent over Rs 55 lakh on printing posters and erecting banners for the party. 

Upset that his work was not recognised, he decided to show his dissent and reached TTV Dhinakaran’s house at Besant Nagar on Sunday morning with a few others. He had also brought some posters and seven litres of petrol in two cans along with him. 

After throwing some posters in front of Dhinakaran’s house, he poured petrol inside his car and set it on fire. However, in the impact, Parimalam, an auto driver and 

one more person suffered burns. 

With 40 per cent burns, Parimalam was rushed to Kilpauk Medical College (KMC) Hospital and was transferred to a private hospital by his kin. The others with 10 to 15 per cent burns are out of danger, said police sources. 

While police have arrested the car driver Subramani under various sections including 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC, Parimalam will also be arrested if he gets better. Currently, he is said to be admitted to the intensive care unit. 

AMMK cadre revealed that Parimalam became infamous for his posters when he was in AIADMK and was even sacked by Jayalalithaa from the party for the same. Sources also said that he once chopped a finger on his left hand demanding the party high command to take steps to erect a statue for the former Chief Minister MG Ramachandran in Kancheepuram.
