2 with stolen phones caught by shopkeepers
Two men, who went to unlock a stolen mobile phone at a shop in Sathya Bazaar in T Nagar, were caught and handed over to the police by shopkeepers there.

The arrested were identified as Surya and Balaji, both from Alapakkam. The two approached Shahul Hamid seeking help to open a locked phone. On suspicion, the shopkeeper messaged one of the contacts on the WhatsApp contact list, after opening the phone. That person informed Shahul thatÂ
the phone was stolen. Immediately, Shahul alerted other shopkeepers.Â
They caught the duo and handed them over to the Mambalam police. Police recovered four phones from the two suspects. Meanwhile, six persons, including a couple, were held for allegedly stealing mobile phones from footpath vendors sleeping on roadside platform in Mannadi. Based on a complaint from a vendor, police nabbed Police arrested Venkatesan (26), his wife Vanmathi (23), Appu (20), Kandhan (22), Mani (23) and Akash (20).Â
