Retired sub-inspector arrested for sexually harassing 13-year-old

Police said the victim, a 13-year-old school girl from Avadi, was being constantly harassed by the retired policeman. The family charged that since March, Ramamurthy had been waiting for the victim when she returned home from school and trying to grab her. Though the girl had complained to her parents several times about the incidents of his advances and her escapes, her family could not trace him till now. The retired police man tried to stop the girl again on June 18 and harassed her in front of her house, but the girl managed to escape from his clutches. 

The accused again tried to harass her on Wednesday. On Thursday, her parents and relatives sent her to school and hid themselves behind the trees on her way. They then managed to catch Ramamurthy red-handed when he attempted to harass the girl, and produced him at the All Women Police Station in Avadi. Based on her parents’ complaint, he was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and remanded in judicial custody. 

The
