Cheating case: VJ-actor held, hunt on for husband

Police said that Anisha alias Poornima, a popular video jockey, was running an electronic gadgets business, in which her husband Sakthimurugan and his brother Harikumar are partners. Since 2017, they reportedly procured 101 air conditioners from a wholesaler, Prashanth Kumar of Nesapakkam without paying any money. 

When Prashanth Kumar recently demanded the payment, Sakthimurugan went absconding. Based on the former’s complaint, KK Nagar police registered a case and arrested Anisha and Harikumar. 

Similarly, MGR Nagar police have arrested the manager of a travels firm owned by Sakthimurugan for allegedly pledging others’ luxury cars and cheating them. B Yuvaraj of Noombal had advertised on an online market website wishing to sell his car. 

He received calls from Sakthimurugan and B Ramesh, owner and manager of Sky Luxury Travels in Nesapakkam respectively, who offered to hire Yuvaraj’s car for a monthly rent and assured him good returns. However, for the last few months, Yuvaraj failed to get rent from the duo. 

When he confronted them, they refused to offer money or return the car. Following this, Yuvaraj lodged a complaint at MGR Nagar police station and a case was registered. During the investigation, police found out that Sakthimurugan and Ramesh have cheated several others in a similar manner. 

Some vehicles were pledged while some were even sold. While Ramesh (29) of Hasthinapuram has been arrested, Sakthimurugan remains at large. Police have launched a hunt for him.
