he State Education department has taken steps to commence the training for aspirants through district libraries from the first week of August this year.

A senior department official told DTNext that all the libraries will be equipped with books, periodicals and other materials related to the civil service exam. “The authorities will ensure that each library has a collection of over 500 books and study guides for the benefit of students,” he said.

“Measures will be taken to set up computers with internet facility in these libraries. Students can use them to download resources such as model question papers,” he said, adding that e-journals will also be made available.

Stating that there will be experts to guide the aspirants, the official said the training programme will equip them with necessary knowledge to help them face the examination with confidence. “We will soon be sending circulars to educational institutions so that students can enrol themselves for the training programme in their respective districts,” he said.

The official pointed out that after undergoing the preliminary coaching through the district libraries, eligible aspirants will have to appear for a two-hour test conducted by the government.

The test will have objective type questions on several subjects, including Indian history, Indian national movement, geography, general science and current affairs. Based on merit and community reservation system, selected candidates will then be admitted to an advanced coaching programme.
