Husband sets pregnant woman on fire

Tamilarasi remains critical with 90 per cent burns at Kilpauk Medical College. The couple got married four years ago and were living at Ennore with their 18-month-old son. They shifted from Ennore to Karanaipuduchery near Urapakkam four months ago. 

Her mother took their son to Ennore when Tamilarasi got pregnant with their second child. Police said that Prakash used to quarrel with Tamilarasi often. He picked up a fight with her around 7 am while she was in the kitchen. When the fight escalated he poured kerosene over her and set her on fire before leaving the house. 

On hearing Tamilarasi’s cries, neighbours rushed to the house and doused the fire before taking her to KMC hospital. The Urapakkam police are on the lookout for Prakash.
