10 detained for theft of emerald idol in Tiruvallur
A day after an emerald idol of lord Murugan and a silver spear was robbed from a temple near Redhills.

The Sholavaram police on Saturday detained 10 suspects for interrogation.
Police said, the idol worth Rs 2 crore went missing from Thangavel Murugan temple in Old Alamathi village on Friday when the temple in-charge Sivakumar, a retired IAS official, went for a bath after opening the temple.
Meanwhile, An unidentified man, who attempted to steal an idol from a temple in Taramani in the wee hours of Saturday, had to abandon it midway after the alarm went off. The CCTV footage from Balasubramaniya Swami Temple in Rajaji Street temple showed him entering the temple and trying to lift an idol. However, the man panicked and fled the spot on hearing the alarm. Police have launched a hunt for the suspect.
