Murdered boy’s mother held in bid to get gun to kill husband, lover
City police arrested a woman who allegedly purchased a gun to kill her husband and a man with whom she was in a relationship earlier. A few months ago, the woman’s son had been brutally killed by the lover after he had an argument with boy’s father.

The accused, Manjula, 38, of Nesapakkam, was also reportedly angry with her husband S Karthikeyan, a businessman, because he had been asking her to return properties that were registered in her name.
Police said that Karthikeyan wanted to file for a divorce and insisted that the properties be returned to him after her lover E Nagaraj had killed their nine-year-old school going son, Rithesh Sai, four months ago following a fight with Karthikeyan.
Police claimed that they came to know that Manju was trying to purchase a gun with an intention to murder her husband first and then her former lover after she was apprehended near YMCA Nandanam while they were engaged in a fight over the price of the gun.
Police also arrested two other men – S Prashanth, 25, from CIT Nagar and P Sudhakar,31, a history sheeter of Pallikaranai who had collected Rs 2 lakh from her and handed over an air gun.
She met the so called ‘gun runners’ during her visit to her relative’s place and made a deal with them. Only after receiving the gun did she become aware of it being an air gun and confronted them. They in turn threatened her with dire consequences.
Police however got a wind of the situation and picked up the three on Wednesday evening for questioning after which she disclosed her plan.
It may be recalled that Rithesh was kidnapped by Nagaraj, in the last week of February and taken to an under construction apartment in Selaiyur where he was brutally murdered. Nagaraj, who was known to the family, had picked up the child from the tuition centre at Nesapakkam on the pretext that his mother Manjula had wanted to bring him home early.
Nagaraj recently had a fight with Karthikeyan over his relationship with Manjula.
