    Job racket victim abducts agent’s brother, arrested

    The airport police on Sunday arrested eight people, including a job racket victim, for allegedly trying to abduct the brother of an agent, who cheated him.

    According to police, the agent Swaminathan (35) of Kumbakonam lodged a complaint that a gang has kidnapped his brother Tamil Selvan in a car. Police intercepted the vehicle and arrested the sub-agent Ramesh, his brother Sudhakar and six others.

    During the investigation, police found that Swaminathan and Tamil Selvan received Rs 7.7 lakh from seven men promising them jobs in the house-keeping industry in Vietnam. This included Sudhakar, brother of the sub-agent Ramesh.

    However, the seven men, who went to Malaysia along with Tamil Selvan, were asked to work in a tea estate after waiting for nearly three weeks there. Upset over this, all seven returned to India via Tiruchy while Tamil Selvan stayed there. All the seven victims had paid money to Swaminathan via sub-agent Ramesh, who is a brother of Sudhakar.

    As soon as they returned, Ramesh contacted agent Swaminathan and asked him to return the money to the seven men. Swaminathan asked them to meet him in Chennai on Sunday. Meanwhile, Ramesh and Sudhakar came to know about the arrival of Tamil Selvan to Chennai from Malaysia.

    On Sunday morning when Tamil Selvan landed in the city, Ramesh and Sudhakar, along with their associates, kidnapped him. Based on Swaminathan’s compliant the city police intercepted the vehicle and rescued Tamil Selvan and arrested eight men.
