3rd judge to begin hearing in 18 MLAs’ case today
Justice M Sathyanarayanan of the Madras High Court, appointed by the Supreme Court as the third judge to hear the June 14 split verdict on the MLAs disqualification case is set to commence hearing on Wednesday.
Chennai
Sources reveal that when the case comes up, which is likely to be at 4 pm, nothing important is likely to transpire and that the case has been called to enable the judge to fix a date for commencing detailed arguments.
The hearing could even be taken up on a daily basis as the third judge will hear the whole case again and read through the proceedings of the two-bench court before deciding, the source added.
Meanwhile, Advocate General Vijay Narayan has sent a show cause notice to disqualified MLA Thanga Tamilselvan in a couple of contempt petitions moved against him for his scandalous attack on judges of the Madras High Court citing the split verdict. The rules require the Advocate General to issue notice to the alleged contemnor.
He is also required to hear both sides before deciding to accord his consent or deny permission for initiating contempt proceedings.
