Nirmala Devi takes voice test, result in two days
Nearly two months after Nirmala Devi, an assistant professor of Devanga Arts College in Aruppukottai, was arrested for alleged ‘misguiding’ girl students, the CB-CID police conducted a voice test on the tainted professor at the Forensic Science Laboratory in Chennai on Thursday.
Chennai
Nirmala Devi was brought to the laboratory functioning inside DGP headquarters near Marina Beach amid tight security. The voice test, which began at 10.20 am, lasted for about three hours in the presence of Deputy Director (forensic) Hemalatha and Assistant Director Natarajan.
The alleged communication between the professor and the students was given to her in a text format and she was asked to read it while her voice was being recorded.
After the test, she was sent to Puzhal Central Prison. The CB-CID had petitioned Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court to grant permission to take Nirmala Devi to Chennai for the voice test, citing the lack of such facility in Madurai.
Sources at the forensic lab said that results of the test will be communicated to the authorities concerned in two days.
