What is your goal for Chennaiites, health-wise?

Indians have been blindly following western healthcare systems without having faith in our age-old sciences. These alternative sciences are in fact ancient and fulfil the WHO definition of creating health through the harmony of body, mind and spirit. Without any marketing and promotional activities, they are still around because of their efficacy. It’s time we unabashedly accept that. Once they accept it and take onus for their own health, we will become wellness creators.

What does your work with children entail?

I was part of a government research programme to create awareness of yoga among school children. What we found was that not many thought it could be used as a curative tool nor did many think it could be taken up as a career. This should see change. I am sure the government is working towards it and people will be more open in future.

What is your advice to youngsters to lead a better lifestyle?

Yoga is a multi-dimensional self-development tool. The only science which cultures body, mind and spirit. It should be part of the school curriculum, which will help create better citizens.

    Anything else you’re involved in?

As and when time permits, I engage in talks with underprivileged and senior-citizens in the city. I do my best to help improve their wellness and quality of everyday life.

How is your approach to health different from others?

The functional and integrative medicine concept followed by my clinic Orange Ray addresses the healthcare needs of the people in a more holistic way rather than a component-based approach. All our treatment methods are formulated to achieve maximum harmony, metabolic balance, and total wellness.
