Burglary case solved in hours, cabbie arrested
Within a few hours of a burglary incident, in which 40 sovereigns of gold was looted from a house near Nandambakkam, police on Monday arrested a cab driver for the crime.
Chennai
The arrested man was identified as P Prabhu, a resident of Karapakkam in Porur.Â
Prabhu was arrested based on the complaint given by R Veerappan, from whose house Prabhu had stolen the gold. Police said Veerappan along with his family went to Vellore on Saturday to attend his relative’s wedding. Re-turning home on Monday morning, he was shocked to see the backside door and the grill broken open and the valuables missing.
Subsequently, Veerappan filed a complaint at the Nandambakam police station. Police registered the case and visited the spot. Examining the CCTV footages in the house, the cops found a man parking a Xylo car outside the house and getting inside the gate.Â
Police with the help of the car’s registration number identified him as Prabhu, a cab driver. A team of cops then went to his house in Karapakkam near Porur and found the car parked nearby. Using knifes and other weapons found in the car, they broke the door of his house, which was locked from inside. They then arrested Prabhu and seized the 40 sovereigns of gold from him.
