Man murdered over affair, woman among five held
A 34-year-old man was murdered allegedly over an affair in Old Washermanpet. Police have arrested five people, including the woman with whom he was allegedly having an affair, and her kin.

According to police, he got into a relationship with Jothi, a married woman, who lives in the same locality nearly three years ago. Jothi’s husband Babu, a housekeeper, came to know about their relationship and had warned them.
However, Arunkumar and Jothi continued with their relationship and used to visit her house often when Babu was at work. On Tuesday night, too, Arunkumar went to Jothi’s house in an inebriated condition when Jothi’s parents and Babu were present. On seeing Arunkumar, they attacked him with iron rods, kicked him in the stomach and also threw chilli powder on him.
Neighbours rushed Arunkumar to Stanley Medical College Hospital but he was declared brought dead. On information, Old Washermanpet police arrested Babu, Jothi, her father Venkatesa Subbaiah, brother Rajesh and another relative Joshua. All of them were remanded in judicial custody. Police said Arunkumar has two children, while Jothi and Babu don’t have children.
