Spurned lover slashes girl’s hand at Ennore railway station

The incident took place around 5 pm on the platform of Ennore railway station where B Kaviyarasan (22) of Ernavur and the victim met during the peak hours on Wednesday evening. Police said that the accused is a relative of the victim and they have been in a relationship for a while. However, the girl has reportedly been avoiding Kaviyarasan in the recent past, which he blamed on her alleged closeness with another person.

After coming to know about the relationship on Wednesday, Kaviyarasan asked the girl to come to the station to discuss something important. When she reached there, he confronted her with the details of her relationship. She reportedly told Kaviyarasan that she would get married to that person.

Furious over this, Kaviyarasan took out the kitchen knife that he had kept hidden, and slashed her hand. The girl immediately collapsed. Kaviyarasan panicked and called the police control room and reported that a chain snatcher attacked her. A police team rushed to the spot and took her to a nearby hospital. However, after she gained consciousness, she told the police what had happened. Following this, police arrested Kaviyarasan, who was remanded in judicial custody on Thursday.
