Special Sub-Inspector attacked by trio
Even as officers were involved in vehicle check across the city as part of the storming operation, a special sub-inspector (SSI) attached to Vepery police station was attacked by a bike-borne trio, said sources. SSI Sampath was involved in vehicle check near Sudha Hotel on Poonamallee High Road in Egmore.

The policeman intercepted a bike with three men, and while he was checking the vehicle documents, one of them suddenly slashed the SSI’s hand with a blade. Sampath was caught unawares, and the trio fled the spot using the opportunity.Â
Sampath was treated at Kilpauk Medical College Hospital after which he filed a complaint at Egmore police station. However, police could not trace the offenders, as they were busy with the storming operation for the second consecutive day on Tuesday. Â
