Petrol bombs hurled at fuel bunk owner’s house
A four-member gang hurled petrol bombs at a fuel bunk owner’s house in Alwar Thirunagar on Sunday night.
Chennai
The victim, V Sundar (28) of Sri Lakshmi Nagar, runs a fuel station named Madha Agencies at Ilango Nagar in Virugambakkam. Around midnight on Sunday, four men reached his house on two bikes and hurled lit bottles filled with fuel inside the compound, a few yards from where Sundar and his mother were talking.
Before they realised what had happened, the miscreants also threw stones, damaging the window panels before fleeing the spot.
On Monday morning, Sundar lodged a complaint at Koyambedu police station. He told the police that he had already filed a complaint on Saturday that two men, who visited his fuel station to fill petrol, stole his mobile phone worth Rs 8,000 after entering the cabin in the guise of drinking water.
Following suspicion that it could have been the same men who hurled petrol bombs, a team led by the inspector went through the CCTV footage from the fuel station and identified one of them as ‘Thakkali’ Prabakaran. A hunt has been launched to nab him.
