Gold worth Rs 25 lakh seized at Chennai airport
The Chennai airport Customs on Sunday and Monday seized gold weighing totally about 798 grams worth nearly Rs 25 lakh from two passengers, who arrived from two different foreign cities.

On Sunday, a male passenger who arrived from Kuala Lumpur, in Batik Airlines was found carrying 400 grams of gold. The passenger, who was intercepted near the exit, was found trying to smuggle in two crude gold wires weighing 400 gm and valued 12.47 lakh, behind the beading of the stroller suitcase.
In the second incident on Monday, a male passenger who arrived from Dubai in Air India flight was found carrying, three cuboid shaped gold bars weighing about 398 gm and valued 12.47 lakh. The gold was seized from them and both were booked for smuggling activities.
