Man attacked, robbed of phone, bike
A 29-year-old man was attacked by a three-member gang, who robbed his mobile phone as well as his two-wheeler, under Marina police station limit on Monday night.
Chennai
The incident happened around 10 pm when Ananth (29) of Sivarajapuram in Triplicane was riding his bike towards the Marina beach on Dr Besant Road.Â
A three-member gang on a bike hit Ananth’s two-wheeler from behind, which made him lose balance and fall on the road. When he confronted them, they allegedly attacked him with a knife and snatched his mobile phone. They also took his bike and fled the spot. Passers-by rescued Ananth and admitted him to the Royapettah GH.Â
After he was discharged from the hospital, police inquired him about the incident and launched a hunt for the culprits. While police claim to have increased vigil at the Marina beach fearing protests, the criminals are seemingly unperturbed by the increase in security.Â
Last week, a woman from Australia lost her bag containing passport, cash and mobile phones when an unidentified person snatched it at Marina beach.
