2 killed in separate road accidents in city suburbs
Two men were killed in separate accidents in Kancheepuram district on late on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Pandian of Chengalpattu and Raman of Nedunkundram.

A man was killed in a hit-and-run case near Perungalathur on Sunday night.
Raman, a painter, was walking to his house from Perungalathur bus stop when the incident took place. While he was on Perungalathur-Kolapakkam Road, an unidentified vehicle from behind ran over him. However, the driver of the vehicle fled the spot, without stopping.
Alleging that the accidents have increased on the road due to the presence of a liquor shop, hundreds of people protested demanding to shift the Tasmac shop to another location, after the incident.
Soon, Peerkankaranai police rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters. They promised that speed breakers will laid on the road to prevent the vehicles from over-speeding.
Later, the body was sent for post-mortem examination to Chromepet Government Hospital. Chromepet traffic investigation have registered a case and trying to identify the vehicle and its driver.
In another incident, 30-year-old Pandian, a private firm employee, was run over by a speeding bus near Vallam. He was returning home on his two-wheeler when the bus lost control and rammed the two-wheeler.
In the impact, Pandian fell on the road and died on the spot with grievous injuries.
After the incident, the bus driver fled the spot, leaving 72 passengers stranded. Chengalpattu Taluk police visited the spot and sent the body for post-mortem examination to Chengalpattu Government Hospital. Police have registered a case and have launched a hunt for the bus driver.
