Teen stabs friend on moving bike for ‘harassing girlfriend
A 17-year-old Class 11 dropout allegedly stabbed his friend while they were travelling on a motorbike near Nerkundram, which made the latter lose control and ram the bike against a median that had a protruding iron road which pierced his neck. The juvenile who was riding pillion walked away from the spot, leaving his friend to bleed to death.

After he was caught by police, the suspect told the police that they both were in love with the same girl, and he decided to murder his friend Ganesh (22) for allegedly ‘harassing’ the girl.
The incident looked like an accident until police were told on Friday, after the post-mortem examination, that the body had a stab injury. Around 6 am on Friday, the Koyambedu police recovered the body of S Ganesh, resident of Mettukulam in Koyambedu, on PH Road near a petrol bunk in Nerkundram. Police after checking the CCTV footage found the juvenile, riding pillion along with the deceased, was missing after the incident. The police apprehended the juvenile who told them that both had fallen in love with the same girl.
“He said that he tried to sort out the issue, but Ganesh refused. According to him, Ganesh had been stalking and harassing the girl,” the police said.
The boy called Ganesh for a ride at 4 am on Friday. Ganesh, a welder, used to leave for work early to a mechanic’s workshop. The juvenile carried a knife from his house with a plan to murder his friend turned foe.
While the victim was riding the bike, the juvenile riding pillion stabbed him with the knife and jumped off the bike. As soon as the bike hit the median, he thought the police would not suspect him as it looked like death due to accident.
The suspect is unemployed and was sent to Government Observation Home for boys at Kellys.
