Series of mobile phone snatching reported in city
After a series of chain snatching incidents a few days ago, a number of mobile phone snatching cases were reported in different parts of city on Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Ishwarya and her friends were walking Jayaram Nagar around 12.30 pm, when a bike-borne duo without wearing helmet snatched Ishwarya's phone and escaped near Kadumbadiyamman Temple, Jones Road.Â
Similarly, a 25-year-old woman techie was relieved of Lenovo K4 Note around 5.30 am on Tuesday when she was waiting for her cab on Kamarajar Salai at Abiramapuram. The victim, E Kala, is working in an IT firm in Amabattur. Two men wearing helmet on Pulsar bike snatched her phone and escaped.
In Koyambedu too, a woman was snatched of her mobile phone when she was waiting for a cab to get home around 12.30 am on Tuesday. S Sarika Kalkar (43) of Kotturpuram had reached Chennai from Bengaluru and was waiting near Anandam Hotel.Â
Three men on a bike snatched her iPhone 6 and fled the spot. In the same locality, a man was attacked and robbed of his Nokia phone and Rs 4000 in cash by a four-member gang on Monday afternoon. The victim, B Rahman (50) of Poonamalle was pushing his two-wheeler to refill petrol when the incident happened.
In T Nagar, where chain snatching was reported on Sunday, a man was relieved of his Samsung phone when he was walking by Thimalaipillai Road on Monday nigght. N Anthonysamy of Thanjavur has filed a complaint.Â
Another 30-year-old construction labourer was attacked and robbed of his mobile phone and Rs 4,000 near Muthusamy flyover by juveniles. They also attacked the victim, A Paiya (30) with beer bottles and injured him. Resident of Pattabiram, Paiya had come to Chennai Central to meet his supervisor when the incident happened.
Separate cases have been booked on all the offences in respective stations.
