    CBSE Class 12: Chennai 2nd with 93.87 per cent pass

    The CBSE Class 12 results were announced on Saturday and the overall pass percentage was 83.01% as against last year’s 82.02 %. Chennai region’s pass percentage was second best at 93.87 % followed by Delhi at the third spot with 89 % pass percentage, officials said. The exams were held between March 5 and April 12.

    Chennai region includes students from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Daman and Diu.

    The overall pass percentage of 93.87% is higher than last year’s 92.6%. The best performing region was Thiruvananthapuram with a pass percentage of 97.32 %. Of the 11.06 lakh students, who appeared, a total of 69,563 candidates registered for the exams in Chennai region.

    Of the 69,563, as many as 65,010 students passed. A total of 286 differently abled candidates also passed the exams. Government schools secured 89% and private schools 92.85%. However, no student from Tamil Nadu figured in the top ten of the all-India list. Meghna Srivastava from Noida, topped the exam in which over 11 lakh students appeared, scoring 499 out of 500. M Sruthi from DAV Girls Senior Higher Secondary School at Gopalapuram scored 495 out of 500. Vishnu Kiran, from Modern Senior Secondary School at Nanganallur secured 492 out of 500.

    “I will study Computer Science in IIT Madras,” Kiran told DT Next, adding, “I am waiting for the IIT main entrance exams’ results,” he noted. Kiran also secured 211 all-India rank in JEE main exam, which concluded recently.

    The post-result counselling will begin from May 26 and continue till June 9 from 8 am to 10 pm on all days. CBSE tele-counselling is offered voluntarily by trained counsellors and principals from within CBSE affiliated schools located in India and abroad. The board said during the second phase of tele-Helpline, a total of 69 expert volunteers will be available for counselling.
