Mystery shrouds new TN Class 11 syllabus
With the results for Class 10 board examination just around the corner, students in Tamil Nadu are excited to face the new syllabus in Class 11, which is expected to be at par with the CBSE curriculum.

Even class eleven teachers are clueless about the textbooks which have been structured according to the newly devised syllabus.
The books are yet to be distributed. The education department is also very keen provide proper training to all its teachers, who will be teaching the new syllabus to the students from this academic year onwards.
“I am really excited to see the new syllabus. As I am planning to become a doctor, I hope the new curriculum will be useful for NEET after my Class 12 board examinations,” S Prem Kumar, a class ten student, waiting for the results, said. He said his classmates are also expecting more from the new syllabus.
According to the school education department, books written according to the new syllabus, especially the ones for Class 11 will be available from June 1.
“We hope that the new curriculum will be at par with CBSE. We heard that most of the topics have been explained in a vey practical way and therefore, it will be easy to understand,” said P Shankar, another class ten student. Stating that the summer holidays will not be extended, education minister K A Sengottaiyan also said, “Since students have to go through the new syllabus soon, the schools will be opened on June 1.”
He said teachers will also be given training on the new syllabus.
“Training on the new syllabus should be comprehensive otherwise, the teaching will be difficult,” said P Banumathy, a Class 11 teacher at a private school. She pointed out training sessions could be scheduled during the weekends so that school schedule will not be disturbed. Next year the government is planning to bring in new formats of the Class 12 syllabus as well.
