Attacked by drunk man, guard dies 3 days later

The victim, G Gangadharan (55) of Old Perungalathur, was working as a security guard at a die casting unit in Tiruverkadu. On the day of the incident, Bijay Nayak attempted to enter the unit, with bleeding injuries, when Gangadharan was on duty.

On suspicion, Gangadharan did not allow him inside and asked him to vacate the premises. Infuriated over this, Bijay took a wooden log and beat Gangadharan severely. Hearing Gangadharan’s cries, other employees rushed to his rescue and took him to the nearby hospital.

They handed over Bijay to police, who booked him under attempt to murder charges.

After inquiry, police said that Bijay Nayak, who worked as a plumber from Vanagaram, got into a drunken brawl and was beaten up by public. He escaped from there and attempted to find refuge in the die casting unit.

Since Gangadharan did not allow, he hit him. After Gangadharan succumbed to injuries, police altered the case into murder.
