They had come from different parts of Tamil Nadu after paying up to Rs 60,000 to an agent who had ‘recruited’ them and issued fake appointment orders on AI letterhead from an office in Cuddalore. It is estimated that the victims had given the agent more than Rs 15 lakh in total.

Many of the victims of the well-orchestrated job fraud had come with their parents. They were mostly from places like Kanyakumari, Virudhunagar and Salem. “We were all asked to assemble at the Chennai airport on Friday and call him on his mobile phone. When we called him, he told us that he will reach the airport in one hour. But his phone went switched off later. We waited till 6 pm though he never turned up,” one of the victims told DT Next.

The victims had given the agent amounts varying from Rs 40,000 to Rs 60,000.

The victims said they had photographs of the agent and his mobile phone number. They will approach the police to track him and seek legal recourse to get the money
