Advocate abuses cop after violating traffic rules, video goes viral

The accused, advocate Kotteeswaran, is a resident of Govindhan Street in Aminjikarai, while the traffic constable Sivakumar is attached to the traffic enforcement wing of Aminjikarai.

The video of Kotteeswaran abusing the traffic policeman, which went viral on Monday, shows him using abusive language when the policeman stopped him for jumping the signal near Ampa Skywalk mall on Monday morning.

While the traffic policeman was being polite, Kotteswaran said he would make sure that the officer was sacked, and that he would get the Assistant Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner to defend him as he was very influential in the locality.

In the video shot by a traffic policeman, the advocate said that filming the issue was not going to help the policemen, and argued that the signal was green when he crossed. Traffic police also took the help of a volunteer, who was regulating the traffic, to make the advocate understand that the wrong was on his part. However, the latter did not budge.

When contacted, Aminjikarai police said that Assistant Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner have been holding talks with the advocate and further action would be decided later.
