Vairamuthu tweets in support of Bharathiraja
Lyricist Vairamuthu on Sunday threw his weight behind director Bharathiraja, who has been booked by Vadapalani police for his speech instigating violence and hurting religious sentiments at a movie function.

The poet took to twitter and extended his support to the director.
“The case against Bharathiraja is an act of vendetta. This case is not that big. Pain is not alien to rubber trees. We will redeem Bharathiraja through legal recourse,” the tweet read.
The lyricist himself was in a controversy over his lecture on Aandal which was reproduced by a Tamil daily.
Bharathiraja has supported Vairamuthu and hit out on BJP leader H Raja, who made snide remarks on the poet.
While speaking at the audio launch of Kadavul 2 earlier this year, Bharathiraja allegedly warned that if Vairamuthu is humiliated over Aandal row, they would not be mute spectators and their reaction would be violent. Also, speaking of Lord Ganesha, he allegedly said that it was an imported deity to Tamil Nadu.
Hindu Makkal Munnani state chief VG Narayanan has approached the Madras High Court in February seeking a direction to the jurisdictional police officer. As sought, the court ruled the jurisdictional police to carry out further probe if prima facie case was made out.
Following complaint from Narayanan that Bharathiraja spoke in a manner that would hurt the sentiments of Hindus, Vadapalani police booked the director under Section 295A of IPC.
