21-year-old killed, friend injured as bikes collide

K Hariharan (21), a dancer in TV shows, was dropping his friend Prasanna (24) back home in Nungambakkam. 

As their bike descended the RK Salai flyover near Music Academy, another bike coming from Kasthuri Rangan Road hit them. 

In the impact, Hariharan and Prasanna fell on the road and sustained severe injuries. Passers-by immediately alerted 108 ambulance service. They also caught and beat up the duo who caused the accident when they tried to flee. 

Ambulance personnel declared Hariharan dead and took only Prasanna to Government Royapettah Hospital (GRH) for treatment. However, a doctor who checked Hariharan told his friends he could be saved if rushed to the hospital. They took him to a private hospital in an autorickshaw, but he was declared brought dead. Pondy Bazaar traffic investigation wing arrested G Venkatraman (18), who was remanded in judicial custody.
