Winners awarded Rs 12 lakh at Anna University sports event

The sports function is arranged every year after the completion of zonal, inter zonal and inter university tournaments. The Anna University teams and players receive cash awards for their performances at All India and South Zone Inter University Tournaments for securing I, II and III positions. 

During 2016–17, the players were given a cash award of Rs 1,01,500 for South Zone Inter University winning and for All India Rs 5,40,500 by AUSB. A total of Rs. 6,42,000 was awarded to the players.

Similarly, the players bagged a cash award of Rs 6,27,500 for the SDAT Inter University Tournaments from the government of Tamil Nadu for 2017–18. Prof Dr M K Surappa, Vice-Chancellor, Anna University Chennai, was the chief guest and presented the cash awards to the players, managers and coaches. 

One to 19 zonal trophies and overall champions trophy (among all the engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu) for the academic years 2016–17 and 2017–18 were awarded. One to 19 zonal co-ordinators are also awarded mementoes for their services. 

Similarly, the colleges that conducted South Zone and All India Inter University Tournaments organised by Anna University Sports Board, were also awarded mementoes, to encourage their involvement.
