Can one still set up a terrace garden if it is a small space?

Space is not a constraint to set up a garden. Even in 100 square feet, one can set up a vertical garden, by stacking up one pot over another. There are many other methods to ensure greenery in a small space. Pipe gardening can be helpful in smaller spaces – where pipes can be used to set up a vertical garden. Tray gardening is another technique, with one stacked above the other, growing vegetables in a zig-zag pattern.

    Does it require much investment?

Setting up a terrace garden doesn’t require much investment. You can use the left-over paint cans or discarded buckets or plastic bottles and turn it into a container for your plant. Even milk cover can be used to grow saplings. the only requirement is a soil mix. Other than that, seeds can be obtained from an organisation like ours. No matter what the size of your home, one can set up a terrace garden at a low cost.

What plants can beginners start off with?

Spinach and other green vegetables are easy to begin with and they can be harvested within ten days. Vegetables like lady’s finger, ivy gourd, bitter gourd and other gourd varieties can be dabbled with. These vegetables, once they grow, can be harvested monthly.
