Notification for MGR varsity senate election
The Tamil Nadu government has issued a notification for conducting the election to the Senate of the Dr MGR University in the city by all affiliated nursing colleges, under the University Act.

The term of membership in the regular vacancy will be for a period of three years from the date of election or up to the date on which he/she ceases to hold the post of professor of an affiliated nursing college, whichever is earlier.Â
The last date for submitting nomination will be May 14.Â
According to the notification, which was published in the government gazette, the nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny on May 14 and the notice of withdrawal of candidates would be made as per the general statutes of the Tamil Nadu MGR Medical University Act on May 21.
The list of final valid nominations will be published in the university premises on May 21 itself.Â
No ballot paper will be issued in the office to the voters on the day of the election.Â
The voters should exercise their franchise either in person or through an agent, according to the norms.Â
Scrutiny and counting of votes and declaration of results will be made on June 20.Â
The communication of valid nominations would be sent to the candidates with a copy of the notification of the programme for the election containing the last date of withdrawal and date of despatching the ballot paper to the returning officer by post.Â
If the number of candidates, who are nominated within the time specified, does not exceed or is less than the number of vacancies to be filled, such candidates shall be declared to be duly elected.
