Besides the crowd at the exhibition venue, several thousand people thronged the Chennai Port to see a fleet of indigenously-built Indian Navy ships docked there, as part of the exhibition.

While 71,410 visitors had the opportunity to see the ships during the three days opened for public visits, 33,492 people visited on Sunday alone.

Indigenously designed and built ships Sahydari (a stealth frigate), Kamorta (anti-submarine warfare corvette), Sumitra (a naval advanced offshore patrol vessel), Airavat (an amphibious ship) and Kirch (a missile corvette) were docked at the Chennai Port between April 13 and 15, for the first time in the history of DefExpo.

The visitors got a glimpse of the state-of-the-art technology onboard the warships. The public visits, initially scheduled for two days, were extended for an addition day, owing to the overwhelming public response.
