Law University ex-VC booked, Court seeks evidence against him
The advance bail plea moved by former Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law University remains undecided with the Madras High Court directing the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-corruption (DVAC) to produce the ‘incriminating documents’ seized from his residence in connection with the alleged irregularities in admission to NRI seats.

Justice AD Jagadish Chandra, before whom the advance bail plea moved by the former vice-chancellor and five others came up on Thursday, passed the interim order seeking production of the documents.Â
Earlier, during the hearing, the judge asked the prosecution whether they are planning to take custody of Vanangamudi. To this, the prosecutor submitted that the court can decide based on the documents DVAC had seized from the residences of the accused.Â
Recording the submission, the judge ordered production of the documents on April 10.Â
DVAC had registered a case against Vanangamudi and five others for allegedly amassing wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income through corrupt and fraudulent manner.Â
Denying the allegations and seeking advance bail, Vanangamudi had submitted that the entire complaint was a fabled one and concocted to the core. He further noted that he has been fixed by his rivals with an ulterior motive and that the complaint has been lodged only to harass him.
