Sources said a hi-tech networking system would be installed for communication to reduce printing work and cost. Currently, printing cost runs into several thousands every month.

RUSA aims at providing strategic funding to eligible state higher educational institutions.

The funding from the central ministry is routed through the State Higher Education Councils.

Madras University sources said the new system would put an end to the printing of invitations, programme schedules, and the minutes of the Senate and Syndicate.  “With the latest networking system, all the matters will be stored as data,” sources said. The project approval board of RUSA will release the funds soon, sources said, adding that the project would help save about 80% of the paper used now.

In addition, the university also proposed to get online feedback from the students of its departments on faculties.

Similarly, the university has also implemented WIFI facilities for faculties and students. Likewise, the university was planning various construction works.  New weathering work will be done on the Centenary Building on the university campus.
