Ford Motor Company established a joint venture company with Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) to assemble and distribute vehicles, but the firm was rechristened Ford India in 1999, following a change in equity holding, with Ford buying out a majority stake.
Police sources said they were informed about the loss of documents by the company two days ago by their executives They had informed us orally. Now that they have issued a public notice appealing to the people to return the documents if found, we will register a formal complaint.
A top police officer, however, said, “How could such crucial documents relating to the plant go missing from the safe custody of the Ford India management? We may conduct an enquiry after registering an FIR.” The police also said that a public notice and FIR are necessary to kick start the process to obtain the duplicate/ certified copies of the title deeds relating to the plant from relevant government departments.
