    Traffic diversions in place for Panguni festival

    In view of the 8-day Panguni festival of the Mylapore Kapaleeswarar temple between March 22 and 29, a series of traffic diversions has been enforced by the city police on lanes around the temple and R K Mutt road for public convenience. A parking restriction on streets around the temple has also been put in place.

    As per the modified arrangement, during all the days, no vehicles will be allowed near the temple from Kutchery road towards Mathalanarayanan street, East Chitrakulam street towards North Chitrakulam street, Nadu street and Sundareswarar street towards East Mada street, RK Mutt road towards South Mada street, St Mary’s road towards RK Mutt road junction, Dr Ranga Road towards Venkatesa Agraharam road and Luz junction towards RK Mutt road. 

    Vehicles, including MTC buses, proceeding from Royapettah high road towards Mandaveli and RK Mutt road will be diverted via Luz church road and CP Ramasamy road.

    Vehicles proceeding from the Adyar side towards Luz junction will have to take VK Iyer road, Dr Ranga road, Luz Church Road to reach the Luz junction.  As a temporary measure, MTC buses, which are being operated from Mylapore tank terminus will start near Amirtanjan company at Luz church road on all festival days.
