SI suffers knife injury inside police station
A sub-inspector attached to Ayanavaram police station suffered cut injuries when he tried to intervene in a quarrel between a complainant and a respondent inside the station premises.

Police said that respondent threw a knife at a complainant, which accidently hit sub-inspector Subramani. He was admitted to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital with an injury on his wrist. The incident happened on Wednesday when the SI was conducting an inquiry.Â
Police said that the complainant S Anandan (30) from Ayanavaram had lodged a complaint against S Syed Munaf (32), a painter, on Tuesday. In his complaint, Anandan alleged that Munaf has been threatening him on suspicion that the he had an illicit affair with latter’s wife.Â
Based on this, the SI summoned Munaf to appear for an inquiry. When he came to the station on Wednesday, Munaf picked up a quarrel with Anandan. In a fit of rage, he pulled out a knife and threw it at Anandan. Subramani tried to intervene and suffered an injury in his right hand, while Ananadan suffered a cut on his chest.Police arrested Munaf under the IPC sections for wrongful restraint, voluntarily causing hurt, assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty and criminal intimidation.
