Nearly 48 hours have gone by since he attempted suicide after killing his four-year-old son, but the businessman, now recuperating at a private hospital in the city, is yet to be informed about the death of his son.

Doctors have declared that Urmil Dolia, a businessman who allegedly decided to end his life and that of his son due to mounting debts, was out of danger.
Urmil had slashed his younger son Madhav’s vein at his mobile service shop on Friday night, and attempted suicide in the same manner. Now admitted at an isolation ward of the hospital in Vadapalani, Urmil has not been told about the death of the boy, whose funeral was conducted on Sunday.
“Urmil has been booked for murder, but he has not been told about Madhav’s death. Once doctors declare that he is good enough to be discharged, he will be arrested and remanded,” said the investigation officer.
On Friday night, Urmil, who has been running five mobile phone service stores in the city, had asked his staff at the Vadapalani shop to wind up for the day early. He then brought his younger son to the shop after the staff left. Later, following a call from his wife Kalaiselvi, one of the staff members returned later in the night to check on the father and son.
Inside, Madhav was dead by then, while Urmil was found lying in a pool of blood. Urmil told police that he was dejected that he was not cured of chicken pox even after a month, and was worried that his children would be infected. Police also suspect mounting debts to be the reason.
