Institutions must compete with global varsities: Naidu
Stressing the need for the quality education, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Friday said that educational institutions should compete with global universities across the world.

Participating in the valedictory of the year-long golden jubilee of Hindustan Group of Institutions (HGI) here, Vice President Naidu said education was for empowerment, enhancement of knowledge, enlightenment and employability.Â
Stating that the educational institutions should give importance to a student’s mother tongue, he said only when the subjects were learned in one’s mother tongue would the students be able to understand the concepts in a better manner. It would also help students understand their own culture.Â
After releasing the golden jubilee souvenir of the institution, he inaugurated the research and innovation centre of the university.Â
In her address, Hindustan Group of Institutions chairperson Elizabeth Verghese said the occasion was an opportunity to renew and strengthen the late founder KCG Verghese’s vision of ‘making every man a success and no man a failure’.
Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Minister D Jayakumar, and Deputy High Commissioner, British Deputy High Commission, Bharat Joshi were also present on the occasion.Â
