Chennai: College girl stabbed to death, killer apprehended
This incident has happened barely a month after a 25-year-old man slashed his ex-girlfriend’s face, neck and hand before injuring himself with the same knife at the Tower Park in Anna Nagar.

In yet another incident of women being victim of spurned love, a 19-year-old girl was stabbed to death at the entrance of her college in K K Nagar on Friday.
The incident took place in broad daylight when the victim, M Aswini, a second year BCom student,stepped out of Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research on Vembuli Amman street. When she was walking with her friends on Loganathan street, Azhagesan (24) who was waiting for her, stabbed her multiple times. While Aswini collapsed on the spot, Azhagesan tried to flee the spot, but were caught by residents. She was rushed to the nearby hospital, but was declared brought dead.
Her body was sent to Omandurar hospital for post-mortem, While Azhagesan was handed over to police after being caught and roughed up by the public.
Preliminary inquiry by police have found that both Aswini and Azhagesan were from Maduravoyal and had been in relationship. Azhagesan, a native of Gingee had been working in the city. Recently, he is said to have visited Aswini's house and tied 'mangalsutra' when she was alone. However, police sent him with a stern warning, after which Aswini started avoiding him. Only a week ago, she moved to her uncle's house in Jafferkhanpet to resume college.
Azhagesan, who came to know that Aswini has resumed her studies, was waiting for her with a knife. Meanwhile, the college administration declared holiday and the students were sent home in buses.
