App to help party-goers navigate pubs, resto-bars in city

Two friends from Chennai – a techie and a sales guy – joined hands to become entrepreneurs and developed an app which could possibly revolutionise the nightlife industry in the city. Sundararaman Pandian and Sanjeev Pandian have released a mobile app ‘FindPubs’ aiming at people, including tourists, looking for ideal spots for a night out. 

“It took us two years to finish our research, compile the data and get the app to the concept stage. We did several rounds of testing and feedback to make sure it appeals to the customer as much as possible,” said Sundararaman, who comes from a background in sales. 

“It is available in both iOS and Android, and is free. After Chennai, we will release the app in Coimbatore, Puducherry and Bengaluru,” he added. With the app scheduled to launch later this week, the duo is excited about its prospects and the options it offers. 

“Did you know that there are over 1000 alcohol-inclusive events happening in Chennai weekly? FindPubs also lets users track 1,300 retail stores all over TN selling liquor. Then of course, they can find pubs and restaurants that offer alcohol with timings and customisation,” said the partners. 

From searching for new resto-bars in vogue, DJ nights, and happy hours to ‘1+1 offers’, dress code allowed, ladies’ nights and concerts/music of preferred 

genre, the app is designed to cater to all – be it for dancers, gaming/ sports buffs or even those looking to meet like-minded people. 

“We decided to launch it in Chennai first because there is such a vibrant market here – but people aren’t aware of it. In fact, we had to change all the data after the Supreme Court’s liquor ban last year – and reboot it again after the ban was revoked. We keep updating it every day as there are new offers and new spaces opening up all the time," said Sundararaman.
