The first bench comprising Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice Abdul Quddhose, which dismissed a public interest litigation moved by S Sirgeth Naina Mohamed,  seeking to forbear the JACTTO-GEO from protesting in Chennai, said if the protests are conducted on their office premises or in the private places, the court cannot intervene.

However, expressing hope that the JACTTO-GEO will not resort to any protest affecting the public, the Bench said teachers, who ought  to be role models to the students, should also realise their responsibilities and bear in mind the future of students and act accordingly.

The petitioner, while referring to the protest of the above organisation on February 21, submitted that normal life was paralysed in Chennai and the city witnessed several traffic snarls.

He further noted that owing to the protest, public were put to irreparable hardship and sought for a direction to forbear the JACTTO-GEO from resorting to any kind of protest without getting due police permission.
