Youth befriends married woman on FB, escapes with jewels
A 22-year-old youth from Palani, who befriended a 25-year-old married woman through Facebook and spent a night with her on February 8 in Chennai before escaping with her gold jewellery, was arrested on Friday.

he woman Sathya (name changed) of Red Hills had initially lodged a complaint that she was robbed early morning on February 9. But during inquiry, police found out that it was not a robbery as claimed, but theft by her friend, Manoj Kumar, who had spent the night with her.
Police traced him with the help of mobile phone call records from Sathya, and recovered the stolen valuables from him. According to police, he cheated many women using the same method.
When they probed after receiving the robbery complaint, the officers found that Sathya was in touch with Manoj Kumar on his mobile number during late night hours, including the day before the incident was reported. But when questioned, she refused to divulge any details other than maintaining that she knew him through a common friend.
Using the call record, police tracked and nabbed Manoj his native. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to his misadventures with women like Sathya. After stealing their valuables, he unfriended them on Facebook.
On that night, after spending time with Sathya, he stole her jewellery and escaped in the middle of the night. She informed her husband that her chain was snatched when she stepped out of the house.
