    Accused returns after five yrs, held at airport

    A murder suspect, who returned to the country after being on the run for five years, was caught by the immigration officials at the city airport, early on Tuesday.

    Sources in the airport said that he arrived from Abu Dhabi in an Etihad Airways flight. The accused was identified as K Vijayan (32) of Ayyampettai in Thanjavur district. Police said that Vijayan was the main accused in a murder case that happened in the year 2013 at Iyyampet. 

    To escape from being arrested by police, Vijayan fled the country five years ago. Vijayan’s details and his photo was sent to all the airports across India as look out circular (LOC) by the district superintendent of police.   

    During the immigration check at the airport, the officials scanned his passport and identified that he were in the wanted list by the police. Soon, they detained him and informed the Thanjavur SP. 

    Trio submits fake docus to get visas, held 

    Three persons were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly submitting fake Income Tax certificates to obtain visas at South Korean embassy. M Arunnehru (26) of Thanjavur, A Azharudhin (26) of Paramakudi, A Payas Ahmed (43) of Kodungaiyur were arrested by Mylapore police based on a complaint filed by an embassy official. While Arulnehru is an MCA graudate and Azharudhin and Payas Ahmed have completed Diploma and Class 10 respectively.
