Meanwhile, Lavanya J, the victim briefly interacted with the police in the private hospital, where she has been undergoing treatment.
“She is not in position to talk continuously and doctors treating her are asking us to stay away,” police said indicating that it would take some time for them to get a statement. The cops had been attempting to talk to her on Thursday and Friday.
Hospital sources said that she continues to be under intensive care. Although Pallikaranai police had been picking four or five people daily for questioning, so far not made much progress in the investigation.
Police believe that she was attacked by a group of three persons who could have followed her in one or two bikes. She was found few meters away from the road.
She was going to her sister’s house well after midnight from her office when the incident happened. It was believed that after attacking, the robbers had taken away her vehicle, gold, bag and phone. Police tracked her two-wheeler near a Tasmac shop in Sholinganallur a day later. Though the police traced the man who parked it there, they could link him to the dacoity. He reportedly told the police that he found the vehicle with key abandoned on the road and used it.
Though finger prints were collected from the vehicle those were not much of help as there were so many prints on the vehicle. Lavanya was hit with a rod by unidentified men near Thazhambur when she was going to her sister Nisha’s house in Perumbakkam.
