Stalin raps cops for rise in crime against women
Alleging that crime against women, mainly chain snatching and robbery has increased owing to paralysis of the state police force, Leader of Opposition MK Stalin on Thursday urged the government to step up vigil in areas with high IT firm concentration and stop deputing police officers from such areas for bandobust duty elsewhere.

Expressing shock at the attack on techie Lavanya in Navalur, which, he described was a challenge posed to the efficiency of the police, Stalin said that police stations in areas with high concentration of IT firms were understaffed. He also accused the IT firms of not doing enough to protect its employees. Â
Senior cops were keen on deploying force for functions of the CM and ministers rather than protecting the people, he alleged. Stalin said the police were confused as to whether they should take orders from the CM, his deputy or the ministers.
